Infrared Light Therapy

What is Infrared Light Therapy?

Infrared light penetrates to the inner layers of the skin at about 2 to 7 centimeters deep. It reaches the muscles, nerves and even the bones. Many studies have shown that a frequency of infrared light, with wavelengths from 700 to 1,000 nanometers, is best used for healing inflammatory conditions. Also, infrared therapy is safe and effective, without adverse side effects. As a matter of fact, infrared light is safe and is used even for infants in neonatal intensive care.

Infrared light is absorbed by the photoreceptors in cells. Once absorbed, the light energy kick starts a series of metabolic events, triggering several natural processes of the body on a cellular level. Nitric oxide is a potent cell signaling molecule that helps relax the arteries, battles free radicals to reduce oxidative stress, prevents platelet clumping in the vessels, and regulates the blood pressure. Hence, this enhances blood circulation to deliver vital nutrients and oxygen to damaged and injured tissues in the body.

Infrared light therapy is applied in the treatment of various health conditions, including back pain, arthritis, blunt trauma, muscle strain, carpal tunnel syndrome, neck pain, back pain, diabetic neuropathy, rheumatoid arthritis, temporomandibular joint pain (TMJ), tendonitis, wounds, sciatica, and surgical incisions.

What are the benefits of Infrared Light Therapy?

Improved Circulation

As your core body temperature rises, an increase in blood flow will naturally follow. Infrared sauna therapy, especially in the far-infrared level, is shown to improve muscle recovery and aid in pain and inflammation in the muscles, making it a great post-workout routine!

Weight Loss

A rise in core body temperature will cause an increase in heart rate as well, similar to what is experienced during exercise. As your body works harder to maintain a steady temperature, your body will inevitably burn more calories. An article released by the Journal of the American Medical Association, called the Effect of Sweating, found that only 30 minutes of infrared sauna therapy can burn up to 600 calories.

Relaxation

Infrared sauna therapy promotes relaxation by helping to balance your body’s level of cortisol, your body’s primary stress hormone. The heat generated by the sauna will also help to relax muscles and relieve tension throughout the body, allowing you to relax and de-stress.

Detoxification

Sweating is one of the most natural ways to expel toxins, and infrared saunas work to eliminate about seven times more toxins than the average sauna!

Pain Relief

By simply increasing circulation and relaxing your muscles, infrared saunas effectively relieve inflammation, muscle aches, and joint pain.

Skin Purification

Infrared sauna therapy purifies and reinvigorates the skin by eliminating toxins and increasing circulation. Just one session will result in noticeably clearer, softer, and healthier-looking skin.

Improved Immune System Function

The increase in core body temperature associated with infrared sauna therapy acts as a sort of “artificial fever,” which naturally strengthens and accelerates the body’s immune response. This improved immune system function, paired with the enhanced elimination of toxins, greatly increases your overall health and resistance to disease.

What kind of Light Therapy does ENSELE offer?

Light Pads & infrared Sauna

ENSELE’s recovery services and treatment with infrared light therapy is simple and painless. Flexible light pads, each containing multiple infrared lights, are placed directly on the skin over the area of pain or injury. Energy from the lights penetrates beneath the skin and is absorbed by deep tissues. After just 30 minutes of luxury rehab treatment, blood flow is enhanced by 400 percent, and this boost in local circulation persists for several hours after the pads are removed.

Infrared Saunas, unlike most common saunas, work by heating up the body from the inside out by penetrating on a cellular level first. Benefits of infrared sauna include: better sleep, detoxification, weight loss, relief from sore muscles, relief from joint pain such as arthritis, clear and tighter skin, improved circulation, help for people with chronic fatigue syndrome, burn up to 600 calories!
